Dropsy in koi and goldfish, this is one of several diseases that is considered fatal.
The goldfish will have raised scales (rather like a pine cone) and eyes bugging out from the head.
A number of conditions may cause localized raised scales but dropsy usually causes the scales to raise over the entire body of the goldfish.
Bacterial dropsy is an infectious disease so treat with an anti bacterial remedy and if possible isolate affected goldfish.
No treatment is recommended for this condition as it is almost always considered fatal.
